Walking the Bisses

We didn’t discover the Bisses until a few holidays ago.  We had vaguely heard of what the Swiss call ‘drains’ that are wonderful to walk along in the summer.  ‘Drains’ are not the best way to describe them hence why I think it took us a while to seek them out.  But now we have, we wish we’d found them earlier!  They are wonderful man-made streams that follow the contour around the mountain from village to village carrying water.  The paths alongside offer stunning views and the walks are extremely varied, from wildflower meadows, woodland, different altitudes, discover remote mountain chalets and huts, wildlife.  The paths are well cared for and not at all strenuous although some bisses vary in length and you could walk literally all day.
